Warranty mechanics, not generic roof tips
The EPDM Repairs Blog
This isn't a “how to patch your own roof” blog. It's a working reference on how EPDM manufacturer warranties are actually structured, what triggers a warranty exclusion, and how certified-repair programs are supposed to function — written for property managers, facility managers, and building owners who need to make a repair decision without accidentally ending coverage they didn't know they had. Every post here is about compliance and mechanics, not marketing copy about roofing in general.
Why this exists
The questions we answer on nearly every call
Most of what's here started as an answer to the same handful of questions we get on the phone — what actually counts as a manufacturer warranty versus a workmanship warranty, whether a specific patch material is safe to use, and whether a repair someone already made might have already caused a problem. We write the long version once instead of repeating a shorter version every week.
None of these posts are generic "how to fix your roof" content. Every one assumes the roof in question might still be under an active manufacturer warranty, and writes the answer with that constraint built in from the first paragraph.
How to use this blog
Read it before the repair, not after
Nothing here replaces an actual assessment of your specific roof — the manufacturer, warranty tier, and condition all change the compliant answer. What these posts do is give you the vocabulary and the general patterns going in, so the first call with an estimator is a confirmation, not a first introduction to how any of this works.
If you read one post before anything else, make it the flagship warranty-mechanics guide below — it covers the questions that come up on nearly every call we take, not just the ones about a specific repair method.
